Heroes and Line of Sight
Something that's been bugging me for a while...
Do heroes and hench actually factor in Line of Sight when fighting? I ask because, as a caster I've noticed that if I'm running non projectile spells and doing my usual trick of hiding behind obstacles from BHA ranger mobs the ranger heroes / hench happily stand right next to me, regardless of whether their view is obstructed, and when it comes to me (and Jin or Zho) being behind a wall I'm pretty sure they don't have LoS. I know I could flag them (well I can't flag hench individually only heroes), but really shouldn't they have at least have enough AI to tell them their view is obstructed? Or am I expecting too much.... ? |

I've noticed this too. It bugs me. Would it be too difficult to program that in? It should be similar to the code used to avoid AoE damage that mobs have (but again, H&H don't seem to have if they are ranged attackers).

Be careful what you wish for.
If they give heroes and henches the ability to move into line of sight positions they're going to give it to monsters too.... no more hiding behind obstructions for you. |

If they give heroes/hench AI to compensate for line of sight issues, you won't be able to hide behind walls anymore. When/if they put that into the game, it will be universal, and the monsters will no longer fire BHA into a wall, and instead move to a spot that they can hit you with it.

On the bright side, most spells can be cast without line of sight, so your caster henchies and heroes can still do their job while staying safe. The melee types tend to run at the bad guys, so that is less of an issue. With the rangers and paragons, some flagging might be the easiest solution (for heroes, at least).

they give the charr some of the crazyest battle formations the one like this where the healer is in back and a wall in front that moves flawlessley even while the charr cast spells -) and of course the (--) indestructable charr formation LOL but our hero AI does the bunch up as much as possable and run into large mobs even tho I am locked on a completly different targer

I guess because I'm running an air build more often than not I'm noticing it more now, my SF bar was all non-pojectile but I have to shift into plain sight to use Lightning Javelin / orb so I've been getting BHA'd a lot more, so I then think.. huh.. if I can't hit 'em you certainly can't.. I can live without the mob AI moving into line of sight... |
